What sources are available to finance working capital needs of small businesses?
Answer by Michael Ward:
I find the most common are;
1. Using consumer loans via the owner who injects the money to the firm.
2. Getting a Business Credit card(s).
3. Going to a bank known for providing SBA (Small Business Administration) loans. Start at http://www.SBA.gov
4. Looking for a non-bank small business lender in the non-profit or government sector. They are often willing to help with working capital loans.
I find once a business has 2 years of financial history then a number of other options open up at traditional lenders. Even 1 full year may help.
